Pilot sites
Following preparation of the pilot sites, including test protocols, AURORA will first launch test campaigns at the Tiller plant and at end-user sites using the Mobile Test Unit owned by Aker Carbon Capture.
The TCM pilot plant will then be used to evaluate the performance and demonstrate the advantages of the CESAR1 solvent (optimized and tested at the Tiller pilot plant) without precipitation. In particular, AURORA will verify any CESAR1 solvent scale-up issues and confirm the optimal composition of CESAR1 solvent for large-scale industrial projects without precipitation problems.
Tiller C02 laboratory
The CO2 laboratory at Tiller is a highly equipped test facility for development of post-combustion CO2 capture technologies, as well as a research lab for flue gas pre-treatment analysis and emission research. AURORA will use the Tiller plant to test the CESAR1 solvent.
Mobile Test Unit (MTU)
The Mobile Test Unit (MTU), Aker Carbon Capture's modular CO2 capture test facility, easily transportable and generating representative data for industrial CO2 capture applications, will be transported to one of the end-user sites in Greece.
Technology Center of Mongstad (TCM)
Following trials on the much smaller Tiller pilot plant and the first on-site test campaign with the smaller MTU, the TCM pilot plant will be used to confirm the optimum composition of the CESAR1 solvent for large-scale industrial projects without precipitation problems.

Particularly, following the tests of the much smaller Tiller pilot and the first test campaign at site with the smaller MTU this task will also check out any scale-up issues for the CESAR1 solvent as well as confirming the optimal CESAR1 solvent composition for full-scale industrial projects without precipitation challenges.
Heracles Cement Volos Plant
The Mobile Test Unit (MTU), Aker Carbon Capture’s modular CO2 capture test facility, easily transportable and generating representative data for industrial CO2 capture applications, will be transported to the HERACLES cement plant in Volos (Greece) and integrated with real flue gas to validate the flexibility, controllability and cost-effective operation of the CESAR1 solvent.
