On June 23–24, 2025, the AURORA consortium gathered for its 5th project meeting, bringing together partners from across Europe to review progress and plan next steps in accelerating carbon capture deployment.

This two-day event took place in Norway, with the first day hosted at the renowned Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM) — one of the world’s leading CO₂ capture test facilities — and the second day in Bergen.

💡 Day 2: Bergen Meeting and Thematic Workshop

The second day of the meeting focused on continued progress discussions, followed by a dedicated workshop on heat integration — a key topic for improving energy efficiency in CO₂ capture. The team also worked on preparations for AURORA’s next Stakeholder Forum.

This meeting also gave us the opportunity to record insightful interviews with key partners, offering a closer look at the work being carried out across the AURORA project.

🏭 Day 1: Visiting TCM and Reviewing Project Progress

Participants had the opportunity to tour the TCM site, gaining valuable insight into the real-world operation of carbon capture technologies. This visit provided context for discussions on AURORA’s work to qualify and optimize the CESAR1 solvent for industrial-scale use.

The day continued with detailed updates on all areas of the project. Discussions focused on the following points:

  • Updates on WP2 and MTU testing.
  • Overview on TCM’s results.
  • Updates on communication, dissemination and management of the project.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to the Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM) team for hosting us and for their excellent organisation of the event, and to all our speakers for their valuable contributions!

Together, let’s accelerate the deployment of integrated CCUS chains based on solvent capture technology!
