The AURORA project partners recently came together in Paris for their 3rd General Assembly meeting on September 3-4, 2024, to assess progress and outline plans for the next phases of the project. The meeting focused on advancing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies using solvent-based systems, with the goal of accelerating deployment across Europe.

Key discussions revolved around updates on work packages (WPs) and milestones. WP1 and WP2 have made notable advancements in CO2 capture using solvent technologies, with significant lab-scale and pilot testing at multiple locations, including the Tiller site and TCM. WP1 focused on improving process modeling for carbon capture, while WP2 worked to scale these technologies for real-world applications.

The partners also emphasized the importance of data management, risk assessment, and innovation tracking. Plans for further testing, including a large pilot campaign and stakeholder engagement, were also covered.

In addition to technical progress, the consortium outlined plans for stakeholder engagement, particularly through the upcoming Stakeholder Forum, which aims to gather inputs from industry, policymakers, and end-users. Communication efforts were also highlighted, including website improvements, social media outreach, and an upcoming newsletter.

Looking forward, the next consortium meeting is planned at TCM in Norway, with ongoing discussions around major campaigns and large-scale testing set to continue into 2025.
