Boosting CCUS Innovation: AURORA Project Partners Convene for 3rd Project Meeting!

The AURORA project partners recently came together in Paris for their 3rd General Assembly meeting on September 3-4, 2024, to assess progress and outline plans for the next phases of the project. The meeting focused on advancing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies using solvent-based systems, with the goal of accelerating deployment across Europe.

Key discussions revolved around updates on work packages (WPs) and milestones. WP1, WP2 and WP4 have made notable advancements in AURORA’s solvent technology. WP 1 has performed numerous experiments to close the knowledge gaps in solvent characterization data, while WP4 has identified several new solvent degradation compounds. WP2 and WP3 have been working on the preparation for piloting.

The partners also emphasized the importance of data management, risk assessment, and innovation tracking. Plans for further testing, including an extensive pilot campaign and stakeholder engagement, were also covered.

In addition to technical progress, the consortium outlined plans for stakeholder engagement. For example, the upcoming Stakeholder Forum was discussed. Stakeholder Forum aims to share project results and gather inputs from industry, policymakers, and end-users. Communication efforts, including website improvements, social media outreach, and an upcoming newsletter, were also highlighted.

Looking forward, the next consortium meeting is planned at TCM in Norway, with ongoing discussions around major campaigns and large-scale testing set to continue into 2025.
